Plein Air Painter
Michelle Darvis was born in 1984. At the age of eight she started taking art lessons at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Finding beauty and sketching everyday items from a young age, Michelle excelled in her art classes. Attending Hudson High School, Michelle began to hone her artistic talents: becoming a member of the National Art Honors Society, and taking art, graphic design and photography. She was awarded the National Scholastic Art & Writing Gold Medal Award at age 16 and her award winning drawing was shown in the Scholastic Art & Writing Gallery in Washington D. C.. Michelle has studied Fine and Professional Art with a concentration in drawing at Kent State University. In addition Michelle has worked in Architectural Design: she assisted architects with masonry materials and presented on LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). She started an organic farm, Organic Seeds of Love in 2007, growing produce, herbs and fresh flowers which are the inspiration for much of her organic work. In 2012 she became an Ohio State University Master Gardener to help educate and volunteer her time for pubic programs. 2014 Michelle Darvis completed an art journey and collection called ‘A Year In Plein Air’. Michelle Darvis will be exhibiting the collection of 365 paintings in multiple cities nationwide in 2015.
Reflected in her work is the passion for natural, environmental and industrial elements coming together in different mediums. As a fulltime artist Michelle has won numerous gold medals and awards. Michelle Darvis’s artwork is in many private collections in multiple countries such as Australia, Italy, Israel and South Africa to name a few. Michelle Darvis has an extensive portfolio of commissions for private collectors and businesses in the United States and abroad.
