Featured Artists hanging

August-September

Hudson Fine Art & Framing Company is proud to announce that another of our local artist is being recognized by Southwest Art Magazine. Throughout the past two years, three of our top artists have been showcased in the magazine, with our youngest artist, Andrea Orr, receiving August's cover, and recognized as a winner of the 2010 "21 under 31" competition. Look for her painting "Morning has Broken" on the cover of August's issue.

Andrea believes that "an artist is one who is specially tuned to perceive the intricacies of nature: the way light caresses and dances upon ordinary items, transforming them into priceless objects; the explosion of color apparent everywhere light falls; the expression on a face. Though anyone can enjoy such beauty, its subtleties are often lost in the hectic busyness of life, causing beauty to quickly lose its significance and value. The duty of the artist is to seek out these glories and capture them in order to remind the preoccupied what they are missing in their endless rush."

Our first featured artist was Matthew Hunt. Matthew was recognized in the 2008 Collector's Choice Issue. If you are familiar with Downtown 140 on the Historic Main Street here in Hudson, you have seen some of his most striking originals. He has completed hundreds of commissioned portraits and original works which hang in public and private collections around the world. Matthew's body of work displays a rare sensitivity for both the medium and the subject, a reverence for the great masters and a uniqueness all his own. As a self-taught artist, he has always worked tirelessly to develop his gift and expand what he naturally understands.

Next, local Hudson artist Diane Farr appeared in their November 2009 issue as one of the "21 over 31: Up and Coming Artists of Note." Diane Farr is a talented artist that brings intelligence, sensitivity, and a wide range of interests and passions to her work. After graduating from Duke University, she worked for 10 years in Boston in high tech sales and marketing management, indulging her passion for art in her free time. She is currently working on her MFA with the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Inspired by color and the play of light and shadow across all manner of subjects, Diane's work is informed by all the passions and experiences of her life, travels, and studies, thus providing for the richness in subject matter and approach for which she is known.

Beginning in August, Hudson Fine Art and Framing Co.'s front gallery will be transformed into a showcase of our artists that were recognized in Southwest Art Magazine. All three were noted as artists that collectors and art lovers alike should keep their eye on. Come in and see their beautiful paintings for yourself!
